Relational Strength & Depth

My Confidentiality Policy

Confidentiality is central to how I work. What you share in therapy is treated with care and respect and kept private wherever possible, so you can speak freely without fear of judgement. There are only limited situations where I may need to share information — for example, if there is a serious risk to your life or someone else’s, or if I am legally required to disclose it — and I will aim to discuss this with you first, whenever possible. I follow BACP and NCPS ethical guidelines and use regular clinical supervision without revealing your identity.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is an integral part of therapy and is essential to building the therapeutic relationship and to ensuring you feel a sense of safety and trust in my services. My psychotherapy services are conducted confidentially to encourage you to be as open and honest as possible. During the process, personal experiences and sensitive information are often disclosed, so it's important that you trust that anything you share will remain confidential wherever possible. While confidentiality is central to our work together, it cannot be guaranteed as absolute in every circumstance. Confidentiality may be broken only if there is a serious risk to your life or the lives of others, or where I am legally required to disclose information (for example, by court order or under safeguarding law). Wherever possible, this will be discussed with you beforehand, and every effort will be made to keep you informed about the process. If this isn't possible, I will exercise professional discretion in line with BACP and NCPS ethical guidelines. As part of my professional practice, I also discuss anonymised aspects of my work during regular clinical supervision, in line with BACP and NCPS requirements. Your identity is never disclosed during this process. I comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR, which govern how I collect, store, and use your personal data. For full details, please see my Privacy Policy.
